Lung water content is not increased in chronic cardiac failure.

چکیده
I n patients with acute heart failure, lung water content is increased leading to pulmonary oedema. This can be detected clinically and radiologically, and makes a major contribution to the severe dyspnoea characteristic of this condition. In contrast, the lung water content in stable chronic cardiac failure has not been defined, as previous studies all included patients with overt fluid overload in their analysis. We therefore carried out a pilot study with computed tomography (CT) measurement of lung water in patients with stable chronic cardiac failure, as well as some patients with acute heart failure, and compared their scans with scans from patients without evidence of heart failure.

Capillary filtration is reduced in lungs adapted to chronic heart failure: morphological and haemodynamic correlates.
OBJECTIVE To determine pulmonary capillary filtration in experimental chronic heart failure and to investigate some morphological and haemodynamic mechanisms that could account for reduced filtration in lungs adapted to chronic heart failure. METHODS We studied pulmonary capillary filtration, vascular resistances and morphology in lungs from guinea-pigs adapted to chronic heart failure. Heart...
متن کاملAortic Valve replacement with Reduction Aortoplasty with Mesh Prosthesis in 75 years old with Sever aortic Regurgitation with Aortic Aneurysm
Although classic and standard procedure for patients with ascending Aorta aneurysm with Sever aortic Regurgitation is Bentall surgery but in some selected cases this complex surgery was not performed with different reason like advanced age and coexisting comorbidity involving renal and hepatic and lung Function. In our cases 75 years old man with chronic renal failure ( Cr= 3.2 ) who was known ...
متن کاملElectrolyte and Water Content of the Ventricular Musculature of the Heart-lung Preparation with Special Reference to the Effects of Cardiac Glycosides
The studies of Harrison and his co-workers (1, 2) have demonstrated that heart failure in humans is associated with changes in the electrolyte composition of the cardiac musculature. The potassium content of hearts from patients dying of heart failure was found to be decreased. A similar change was found in the hearts of dogs receiving toxic doses of digitalis (3). More recent studies have demo...
متن کاملLong-term effects of nonpeptide vasopressin V2 antagonist OPC-31260 in heart failure in the rat.
The hormone arginine vasopressin (AVP) contributes to water retention and vasoconstriction in congestive heart failure (CHF) through effects at the V2 and V1a receptors, respectively. The effect of long-term V2 receptor (V2R) blockade using OPC-31260 was assessed in a rat model of postinfarction-induced CHF. Rats underwent coronary artery ligation or sham operation and were treated for 6 mo wit...
متن کاملThe cardioprotective effects of 4-O-(2″-O-acetyl-6″-O- p-coumaroyl-β-D-glucopyranosyl)-p-coumaric acid (4-ACGC) on chronic heart failure
The 4-ACGC isolated from BP was prepared to investigate the cardioprotective effects on attenuating chronic heart failure in vivo and in vitro. A chronic heart failure (CHF) rat model was established to investigate the cardioprotective effects of 4-ACGC. From this, several cardiac function indexes were recorded. The inflammatory markers including tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), Interleukin-6 (...
